Downtown’s blow-out of a street party, Urban Nights, is a great opportunity to see and experience everything that makes Dayton original! During this free event held every year in mid-May and mid-September, downtown is teeming with activity and people enjoying the dining, nightlife, art, music, shopping and housing that can be found only in Dayton.

Approximately 30,000 people come downtown for Urban Nights, and more than 100 establishments showcase the best downtown has to offer. Galleries and other creative spaces exhibit work by local artists, locally owned restaurants and retailers offer discounts, downtown residents open their condos for tours, and entertainment is provided on the main stage at Courthouse Square and at satellite stages throughout downtown, the Oregon Arts District, and the Wright-Dunbar Business Village. Roaming performers entertain visitors throughout downtown, and unique things to see and do are found in many unexpected places, from a film being projected on the side of a building, to a DJ spinning vinyl in a store, to a painter set up on the sidewalk to make his most recent creation.

Indeed, Urban Nights’ visitors can count on a unique experience, such as watching original artwork being printed with a steamroller and people rappelling off the 27-story KeyBank Tower to raise money for charity. Visitors can be part of the action during Urban Nights as well, whether it be playing one of the pianos set up on street corners or helping create a massive street mural from chalk. They can get around the event by participating with hundreds of other cyclists in Urban Bikes @ Urban Nights or by hopping on one of the trolleys running through downtown.
