The Air Force Marathon is held the third Saturday in September every year to celebrate the anniversary of the U.S. Air Force. The race brings in runners from all 50 states and numerous countries every year for a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10K run, and a 5K run. The Air Force Marathon is a first-class event that brings more than 30,000 people into the area and has an estimated $15 million impact on the local community!
The event features a new aircraft every year that is displayed on the medal, the shirts and more. The start and finish lines are at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force and all runners finish between the retired aircrafts featured at the museum. Uniformed Air Force officers present each runner with their finisher’s medal. The 5K is held the Friday before at Wright State University’s Nutter Center. The race has sold out for the last three years.
