Founded by school superintendent James Rodriguez, and transformed from the Oregon District’s Grand Theater, Ohio Budōkan has offered traditional Japanese martial arts instruction from Downtown Dayton since 1983! Ohio Budōkan, a Martial Arts and Japanese Cultural Center, strives to provide personal development programs for youth and adults by using martial and other Japanese cultural arts as vehicles for learning and self improvement. Ohio Budōkan offers three areas of martial arts instruction: Yamate Ryū Aikijutsu, Tenshin Ryū Kenjutsu, and Genwakai Karate-dō. As a nonprofit that is staffed entirely by black belt level volunteers, Ohio Budōkan is able to keep its focus on intense personal training while being one of the most accessible and affordable martial arts studios in the greater Miami Valley. This Dayton Original is known for high standards in Japanese martial arts.
